Danefae Spring Summer 2013 – kidswear in bright green and yellow

by Scandinavian mum

Spring is in the air and Viking style is trending! Cool graphics and bright colours from Danish favourites, Danefae.

Inspired by Nordic mythology, Danefae had its first big success with brightly printed ladies raincoats back in 2006. 7 years on and they still do functional womenswear, although the children’s wear is what’s in demand; There’s an expanding range of rainwear, outerwear, t-shirts, dresses, skirts, bodysuits, sweatshirts and knitwear.

Danefae is available in the UK at online shop Nordic Kids and loveitloveitloveit.co.uk

Whilst I’m writing this my husband and children are out in the garden, planting flowers, herbs and vegetables. There’s sunny spells and laughter in the air. Got to love spring!

Unique Scandinavian Style New Baby Gift

by Scandinavian mum

Skummis has made its way into the British marked with it’s functional and playful design for babies. But did you know that the designer, Anna Hokenberg is also the founder of Snoffs Design?
Snoffs Design is all about fun prints and soft baby clothes and accessories, inspired by Anna’s everyday life as a mum in Sweden. Appreciating the small things in life and creating her own whimsical and joyous world of design for children. Everything from knitting bears and loving owl families to the more subtle and plain like this loveable and dreamy long sleeved baby grow by Snoffs Design.

A new baby is like the beginning of all things… Love, Faith and Hope!

Both Skummis and Snoffs Design are brands worth remembering when searching for that perfect unique gift for the new baby.

I’m finding myself often looking for that special baby gift. Being in your 30’s means you have lot’s of expecting girlfriends –Courtney from Babyccino Kids being one of them with her due date only a week away! Exciting times!

Children’s waterproofs -Autumn is the season for rainwear!

by Scandinavian mum

The Little Scandinavians were both wearing raincoat and wellies to school this am. I probably dressed them a bit warm, the girls wearing fleeces underneath. But it’s better to remove a layer than be cold in the playground.

So how to dress your child for autumn? In layers! Coats should have a hood, and they should be water resistant, and waterproof on rainy days. When it comes to kids rainwear, look for quality and not only trendy designs. Kozi Kidz outdoor clothing for kids, designed in Sweden, have some beautiful colours, great quality to reasonable prices.

Kozi Kidz is widely available in several stores around the UK. You’ll find a good selection online at Gentle Baby Things

“Puddle emergency, help needed!” Nordic Kids has a range of gorgeous children’s wellies in store; Red, purple, light green, bubblegum pink and yellow. Avoid wet shoes and cold tiny feet with these rubber boots from Danish brand Bisgaard.

These fab Bisgaard children’s wellington boots in superb quality is available from Nordic Kids £25.99 size 23-30.

I also recommend having a look at the children’s clothing outdoor specialist Raindrops.
And finally, a snap shot from London this am, before the heavy rain started…

Stay dry, warm and happy in the rain!

by Scandinavian mum

How to Kiss a Frog is known for their romantic and nostalgic clothes for children up to 12 years. The sisters Maria and Malin Holmberg founded How to kiss a Frog in Stockholm in 2006 and have been enjoying in their steadily growing success since then. For this coming season The Swedish design duo have created some romantic dresses and outfits, perfect for the coming holiday season (yes I’m thinking Christmas already!). The style is timeless with a vintage feel, making this a dress that can be saved and handed down, perhaps even to coming generations; Some of the dresses actually reminds me of the dresses I used to have as a child!
