Help yourself to wine from the fridge, pinch a book from the library and settle in for a cosy afternoon in the glasshouse. Marked through Mr and Mrs Smith as a Urban Gustavian Hideout, Ett Hem in Stockholm is the new benchmark for laid-back Swedish hospitality.

Owner Jeanette Mix bought the elegant townhouse, originally a private residence built in 1910 for an official and his wife who was an avid collector of objects, textiles and furniture from all over Sweden. This elegant yet eclectic style was kept for the hotel who opened its doors to guests in 2012.

Ett Hem translates as ‘a home’ which is a highly suitable name for the hotel with its warm, welcoming interior with a carefully curated mix of art, vintage furniture and Scandinavian design classics.

The hotel was designed by acclaimed British interior designer Ilse Crawford who is also known from her work of the interior design of Soho House. Crawford presented Ett Hem with “It is a place to stay for the modern traveller, a home away from home.”
