Wool Week News: Gudrun & Gudrun, the knitwear fashion brand originating from the Faroe Islands has opened a pop-up shop in London. The opening party took place last night, serving ‘Eldvatn’ and music was played by DJ Set Brynjolfur. And of course the ladies behind the brand, Gudrun & Gudrun was there too!

Gudrun & Gudrun has been one of our favourite brands for a long time; turning knitwear into fashion. And visiting the shop last night, made us lust even more after the new collection for Autumn Winter 2015.

So on my wish list for Christmas (hoping a generous Santa will read this!):

On top of the wish list is the Fjóla knitted sweater in baby alpaca and merino wool. So soft, cream white and just beautiful. This is no ordinary knit sweater though. Look closely and you’ll see that it;s knitted in several yarns, one being a super fine polyester tread, making this pieces so delicate (and perhaps a bit see through – which is nice!). Elegant and stylish. I’m starting saving now as it comes at a hefty £297.50. But it’s hand knitted in the finest of yarn qualities. And it’s much more than a piece of knitwear. That’s the thing about Gudrun & Gudrun. It’s fashion! Super stylish, soft and comfortable, in amazingly high quality and anyway, less is more.

Everything in the children’s collection! Some are readily available in the pop-up shop, but some styles are made to order. So don’t delay your shopping. Treat your little one to some knitwear couture this Winter.

Last but not least, the high-neck fine knitted super soft 100% organic eco-wool sweater in dark grey. This essential piece for your wardrobe is anything but boring with it’s slightly frayed edges together with the delicate knitwear. Understated and timeless must have for winter. I’d wear it on the school run, at the office and on nights out paired with a pair of black leather trousers and heels.

Fingers crossed and hoping I’ve been a good girl…

But back in the Gudrun & Gudrun London shop. You can easily spot the inspiration for the collection; the stunningly beautiful Faroe Islands with its raw landscape in gorgeous colours.

Again, mix and play with different types of materials, making even the monochrome look a proper stand out.

This cardigan would make a lovely Christmas gift for him, classic yet with a contemporary feel. I suspect he’d even want to wear it to work on frosty winter mornings. The pattern is similar to the famous Gudrun & Gudrun sweater from the Killing (you know, the sweater with its own name and fan website!)

Gudrun & Gudrun flagship store is situated in Niels Finsensgøta 13 in Torshavn in the Faroe Islands. You can also shop online – or for the next three months – you can pop in to the Gudrun & Gudrun pop-up shop in 30A Redchurch Street, which is just a stone throw away from Shoreditch High street and the overground station.

Lovely, lovely night and I can’t wait to go again, when it is less crowded, to have a proper look.
