‘You should sit in nature for 20 minutes every day. Unless you are busy, then you should sit for an hour.’ This old Zen saying about mediation came to my mind when I read about ByClara, a new Scandinavian kidswear brand.
byClaRa is a Danish children’s wear brand founded in March 2013 by Pia Miller. Her daughter Clara and the nature surrounding her family’s home in the countryside, near the city of Kolding in the southern part of Jutland has been the inspiration for the raw and simplistic, but functional and organic quality and design that characterizes the entire clothing line.
Before having Clara Pia had a career in fashion working with high quality fur and leather in Denmark. Her experience in fashion followed by a discussion with orthopedic doctors, on children’s footwear and on how often less is more, led to the idea and design of the moccs.
The moccs are a tribute to all children’s feet made entirely out of crome free, quality leather, and in a simplistic design that allows children’s feet and bones to grow strong, as they, in a subtle way,exercise the ability to keep the balance.
ByClara, run by Pia and her partner Thomas, has evolved since 2013 and the new collection for Spring Summer 2015 includes not only moccasins but also sling backs and children’s accessories and clothing.
