The 24th December is the highlight of Christmas in Scandinavia. After enjoying an abundant Christmas meal with your family, everyone is waiting for that special knock on the door, which means that that the ‘tomte’ or ‘nisse’ has finally arrived with the presents.
But it all starts a month earlier, usually with the marking of the first Sunday in Advent, which will fall on the 1st of December this year. Another way to mark the beginning of the Scandinavian Christmas is to visit a traditional Scandinavian Christmas Market.
As always we’ve done a round up on where and when, dates for your diary, for the Scandinavian Christmas Markets in London for 2019.
Visit a Scandinavian Christmas Fair in London
What better way to start the first preparations than visiting a Scandinavian Christmas Market in London where candle lights are lid, generous mugs are filled to the brim with warming mulled wine and live Christmas music is played throughout. Go with family and friends and stock up on traditional Christmas decorations, gifts, foods and sweet treats. There is no better way to get into the festive spirit and to start the very first preparations for Christmas!
