St Lucia Concert in London 2017

Santa Lucia in Norwegian and Sankta Lucia in Swedish, Saint Lucy’s Day is a Nordic celebration of light on one of the darkest nights during the year. The Lucia concert is one of the most popular Church services among Scandinavians in London and it has become an important part of their Christmas traditions – and so tickets sell out fast!

Saint Lucy’s Day is celebrated on December 13th in Scandinavia where as in London the celebration takes places on multiple days with both family friendly day services as well as adult only evening services. It commemorates the life of Santa Lucia, who is also known as Saint Lucy. It’s the beginning of the Christmas season in those countries and is a celebration of light – at the time of year when the world is darker.

This year Saint Lucy’s Day will be celebrated in the Swedish Church Ulrika Eleonora, in St Paul’s Cathedral and in Southwark Cathedral. The dates and times are;
