Mini Rodini x Adidas Originals

It’s all about street wear these days. I recently enjoyed seeing the graffiti artist, Basquiat’s work in London. The hip hop music is back, playing on the turntables in popular vinyl stores. The launch of a limited street style kids design collaboration collection couldn’t have been better timed.

The cultural movement known as hip-hop emerged in the late 1970s in the predominantly African American South Bronx section of New York City. Music is a central component of the complex hip-hop culture, which also includes graffiti painting and the dance, style, and attitude known as B-boying.

In the late 1970s, established sportswear and fashion brands, such as Adidas attached themselves to the emerging hip hop scene. Hip hop icons wore clothing items such as brightly colored name-brand tracksuits. During the 1980s the street wear collections evolved to include sneakers often with “phat” or oversized shoelaces.

Decades later, the relaxed urban young style has never been more in vogue. For Autumn 2017 Adidas Originals and Swedish children’s label Mini Rodini are expanding their popular collaborative partnership with a clothing collaboration that sees the addition a EQT sneaker.

The fifth and final design collaboration from adidas Originals by Mini Rodini unveils a brand new graphic from Cassandra Rhodin – the muscle cat. The collection, in sizes ranging from 3 months to 5 years, consists of a tracksuit, t-shirt, hoodie and trackpant set, padded vest, beanie and a pair of sneakers. True to Mini Rodini and adidas Originals’ shared commitment to sustainability, all pieces are constructed from textiles such as organic cotton and recycled polyester.

As always with these design collabs, it’s a limited edition. Each shopper is limited to two items per category for a total of six pieces.

The Adidas and Mini Rodini collection release today, October 5, 2017 at select Adidas Originals retailers and adidas.com. Offerings will also be sold on minirodini.com plus Mini Rodini’s retail locations.

What we love the most? The sneaker!
