Coco Chanel’s home redesigned

How do you think Coco Chanel’s home would look like if she lived today? She famously once said ‘Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.’ A Danish design company has bravely brought fashion designer extraordinaire Coco Chanel’s living room into this century.

In conjunction with Paris Fashion Week, the Danish design company & tradition was given the opportunity to redesign the living room of one of the most influential style icons of the world’s Paris apartment. So in order to please the legacy of someone who once said ‘Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.’ the designer, Signe Hytte was in for a challenge.

The history of Coco Chanel apartment was an important source of inspiration when Ms Hytte approached the task, with a desire to add modern design furniture to only to match but enhance the impressive legacy of the apartment.

And that is exactly what they do! The dining room, which is connected to the kitchen by a secret passage, transformed the tradition into a small salon. The dark wall paneling, the marble cork and the brass details in the room supplemented Hytte with classic materials and products from the & tradition collection such as the “Mayor” sofa by Arne Jacobsen and Flemming Lassen.

Timeless, sophisticated design from Scandinavia turned out to be a extraordinary combination with the classic periode details of the beautiful home of Coco Chanel. As she would perhaps have said it herself, ‘Fashion fades, only style remains the same.’
