With summer fun unfortunately comes post-summer hair damage. After spending time in the wind, sun, chlorine, salt water and air conditioning your hair may be dull, brassy, frizzy, dry or brittle. Then to make matters worse, I had this post summer hair – before the holidays had even begun!
Kell Skott in Notting Hill offers Olaplex, a new formula that promises to go beyond the surface with the only salon system that rebuilds broken hair bonds. Not only was I desperate to save my hair but after hearing so much positive about Olaplex, I decided to give it a go.
My hair is highlighted and long, needing a lot of moisture to not feel dry and brittle. Unlike traditional salon treatments it works to mend the structure of the hair, rather than smothering it in moisture to mask the damage.
The Olaplex formula comes in a 3 step system. You can use Olaplex to restore compromised hair, or add it to another service to provide the ultimate breakage insurance. As I didn’t colour my hair this time I only had 2 steps, as one is added in combination with the colouring.
No.1 Bond Multiplier, beginning to rebuild’.
This concentrated first salon step rebuilds broken disulfide bonds and begins the process of preventing damage and repairing hair. This step I was told is in combination with colour treatment.
No.2 ‘Bond Perfector, pursuing hair perfection’.
This step aims to rebuild and restore any remaining broken bonds ensuring the strongest, shiniest, and healthiest hair possible. So in other words, repair.
‘No.3 ‘Hair Perfector, lasting protection at home’.
The third and final step provides continuous protection from ongoing damage at home. Meaning, protect and prevent further damage.
And it’s the last step that really explains it all. Because Olaplex isn’t a wonder treatment that gives immediate effect. As it works on the inside of the hair strands the formula is not an instant fix but more of a long term solution, for a longer, stronger and healthier looking hair.
On this occasion I also brought my two daughters along (lead image), for some mum & daughter quality time. Beatrice (age 15) just wanted a smooth blow dry whereas Amélie (age 12) went for angelic waves as she was heading for a party in the evening.
Now, the team at Kell Skott obviously washed, blow dried and styled my hair too. It was literary dancing around my shoulders when we left.
My hair did feel more soft and not as heavy as it usually does.
The recommendation is to use it at least every time you colour your hair. If your har seem dry or damaged it might be worth having a treatment done in-between your regular colour & cut appointments as well, to give it a boost.
