The 79th edition of Pitti Bimbo took place at the impressive venue of the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, Italy, from 26-28th June 2014.. The children’s trade show displayed 415 collections, 180 of which are international brands, contributing to the fast-growing global market for children’s wear.
When the 78th edition ended last January Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine stated, “There has been a general atmosphere of optimism”. And it seems that it was exactly this focus the trade show build on, to bring optimism and energy back in to the industry of childrenswear.
The predictions on the final figures indicate a substantial confirmation of the number of registered buyers of last June and the total attendance is expected to be a little under 10.000 visitors. International buyers was registered, with increase from Great Britain, Turkey, Switzerland, South Korea, Lebanon and all the countries of the Gulf, a little decrease from France, Germany and Belgium and stable the numbers from the United States, the Netherlands and the Nordic countries.
One Nordic exhibitor was girls luxury clothing brand, Pale Cloud, presented along other high end brand in the Apartment section. And once again, designer Ilaria Marelli has reinvented the Lyceum with a setting that creates a surreal atmosphere, with the Royal Games og historic Ping Pong. It’s playful yet sophisticated.

The success of Pitti Bimbo is also due to the inspirational events and kids runway shows, that launch new trends and offer invaluable ideas for styling and combining clothing and accessories. Monnalisa used the opportunity to present its latest collection to international buyers and press with a cocktail party in the setting of the Four Seasons Hotel Florence. Diesel Kid celebrated its 30 years anniversary with a ‘Tribute Collection’ presented with an exhibition. Among the fashion shows at this edition was MSGM, Il Gufo and Miss Blumarine.

Pitti Bimbo also supports and values new talents. Not only with the New View section but also the collaboration with Vogue Bambini, where they have created a new curated talent platform, Kid’s Evolution. Staged at the Main Pavilion, the six capsule collections featured this season; Benedetta Bruzziches, Anitaliantheory, SuperDuper Hats, Stella Jean, Vivetta and Studiopretzel will also be included in a special shooting session for Vogue Bambini.
