Exciting new talents in Rising Stars Awards, wonderful finds of boutique brands in the Nest, various of fun and quirky installations and trend boards, including the Anorak wall of wishes. This season also saw the launch of the Bubble Runway, a fashion parade celebrating the UK kids fashion industry.
British Fashion according to Wikipedia states “Vintage styles play an important role in the British fashion and styling industry. Stylists regularly ‘mix and match’ the old with the new, which gives British style that unique, bohemian aesthetic that many of the other fashion capitals try to imitate.” And a quick browse through the selection of established and emerging talents at Bubble London this Sunday revealed a fashion parade of the best of what Britain has to offer for the little set.
More than 280 children’s brands, both homegrown UK and International, are all under one roof during this two day event. There’s a strong trend for “British Made” but Scandinavian fun design and superb quality seem to be in demand as well. Little Scandinavian stopped by Swedish skiwear and outdoor specialist Isbjörn of Sweden. And of special interest to the UK marked is the fantastic school winter coats in navy. Little A had her eyes on the pink styles…
Småfolk (little people) from Denmark is a fun, bright and colourful addition to the show. serving a loyal set of buyers with the most gorgeous prints and soft styles. The designer and founder of the company is there to introduce you to the new AW14 collection. If you haven’t discovered this brand already -Make sure you pop by and say hi!
And talking about fun print and soft styles. Another brand, Swedish Maxomorra is also worth checking out. The new Fox print looks to be a favourite for seasons to come, along with the much loved owl. And between the coolest of prints -We ran into lovely Kim from Mini Magpie and her darling little Oaky, half of arguably the trendiest family in the British capital.
Also, visiting from Denmark, natureZOO exhibited with a range of unique handmade toys and nursery decorations, that would make perfect gifts for the new baby. This brands also does baby and junior bed linen, in a zoo print of course.
Bubble London is also a great place to meet and catch up with people in the industry. We ran into the talented children’s fashion photographer Flannery O’Kafka. What a pleasure to finally be able to put a face to the name. We also met the lovely girls from Yellow Lolly, sourcing collections for the coming winter season.
On our way out, in the Nest area, we stumbled upon Scandi Chic, the agent of Maileg. We love this Danish brand, everything from the matchbox mouse family to the giant Maileg bunnies, and we were delighted to see all their new products!
My fashion assistant and official photographer will report her finds, and general trends from the show later this week. If she can fit it in with her homework, ballet, drama and cross country club that is.
Bubble London will be open today, Monday 27th January 9:30am – 6pm. bubblelondon.com
