Finally a beautiful day and we headed to Kent for some cherry picking. Due to the wet spring the cherry season was not at its best, but we still managed to secure a bucket of dark red, juicy cherries. It was also a lovely day out, together with friends.

Preserving seasonal food is something we think is very important, and securing previous generations recipes to do so. These cherries are already on jars, in the process of becoming cherry liqueur for the upcoming autumn and Christmas season. Some more cherries are in the fridge, ready to play their part in a summery cherry pie!
If you don’t have friends with a cherry orchard you can visit your nearest pick yourself farm. The children love a family day out like that -just like we did as children! Time Out have made a list of London’s Best Pick Your Own Farms

Wish you all a cherry sweet Monday!
