Come along to a traditional Swedish Crayfish Party at Lisa’s London

A crayfish party is a traditional summertime eating and drinking celebration in the Nordic countries, especially in Sweden. All you need is some friends, a heap of freshly boiled crayfish and a selection of silly hats and songs -or a invite to a party!

Due to the risk of over-fishing, restrictions on river crayfishing were introduced back in the early 1900s. The season was limited to a couple of months from August. Come mid August and crayfish will be back on the menu. The Scandinavian summer nights are still balmy, but Autumn is soon approaching. No other excuse is needed to through a party!

The crayfish are steamed and traditionally served with bread, rye crackers, spiced cheese, boiled shrimps, mayo and dill.
