Copenhagen’s best Boutique Hotels

Mr. and Mrs. Smith is usually the go-to-place for us when looking for accommodation when travelling. But for some reason our trusted travel website has only two hotels listed for Copenhagen. Obviously the Danish capital and the home of Scandinavian design has a lot more to offer! Here are the best boutique hotels in Copenhagen.

Guldsmeden

Guldsmeden has no less than five green boutique hotels spread around the city. But our favourite will always be Betrams, which is with its 47-rooms the smallest. This quaint and luxurious hotel is a eco friendly oasis. The ground floor consists of cosy lounge areas, a café and a garden. We love the neighbourhood of Fredriksberg, with its charming cafes, independent boutiques and thrift stores. Please note that Bertrams is not for children If you are travelling as a family please see the other four Gulsmeden hotels in Copenhagen.

The SP34 is a cool and urban hotel where you instantly will feel at home. The rooms are incredibly stylish featuring sleek Scandinavian design. There’s a nice open lobby area, library, 3 restaurants and a bar with the best selection of ports (more than 50!). The hotel also has its own cinema.

It’s wine on the house between 5 and 6pm, coffees are freshly brewed and only £1 and the wifi is fast. All what you’ll need to stay comfortable in Scandi cool surroundings.

Avenue Hotel Copenhagen

This small boutique hotel is situated in a historical building, built in 1898 by Emil Blichfeldt. This is the same architect responsible for the famous entrance to Tivoli Gardens. The hotel offers comfortable rooms featuring beautiful Scandinavian design and cosy communal areas. From the welcoming and inviting bar (perfect for fika or a cocktail in the evening) to the leafy terrace on a hot summers day.

This sister hotel of SP34 is located in the leafy area of Fredriksberg, a trendy and vibrant part of the city. The close by metro will take you to the city centre in minutes.

Hotel Alexandra

Set in a neoclassical row building, this stylish boutique hotel with midcentury modern interiors is within walking distance to most attractions.

When you enter the lobby, it is like going back in time. The 61 rooms and the lobby are all furnished, as if you were staying with a design loving Dane in the 50 ́s and 60 ́s. In the evenings you can play your favourite record on the turntable, help yourself from the honesty bar or study one of the designer books from the library. ‘Home from home’ springs to mind.

Hotel d’Angleterre

Hotel d’Angleterre is one of the first deluxe hotels in the world. Situated in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark, it is located in the heart of Copenhagen, on Kongens Nytorv. The hotel has long been considered the most prestigious and elegant hotel in the city, with its history dating back to 1755.

Copenhagen’s number one luxury hotel re-opened in May 2013 following extensive restorations, with 30 rooms and 60 suites. Furthermore, the hotel is the home of the 1-star Michelin restaurant, Marchal. There’s a cocktail and champagne bar. And for the ultimate relaxation theres a spa and a health club.

If you are looking for the best of the best and wouldn’t mind a Krug afternoon tea – this is the hotel worth considering.
