Sustainable children’s style in Copenhagen

I am super excited to announce that I will once again work for CIFF KIDS. This season I’ll be moderating the panel discussion. And I can’t wait to talk trends, technology and last but not least, sustainable style in Copenhagen!

We’ll be addressing issues concerning today’s kids fashion and lifestyle industry, an important aspect of this is of course sustainability.

The UK based trend-forecast agency WGSN is predicting a further increase in the development of new environmentally friendly materials and that sustainable fabrics will be one of nine top trends in the coming years.

Although sustainability is seen as a hot trend these days it’s not new to the Nordic region which is globally known for producing lasting and timeless design that embody the ‘less-is-more’ approach, with simple aesthetics to accommodate a functional lifestyle. The happiest people, living in the safest countries in the world, are known for ‘hygge’, ‘lagom’ and a slow sustainable lifestyle.

Already back in 2008 Nordic Fashion Association was formed with a core purpose of collectively working with sustainable fashion, to position itself based on these values and use it as an international competitive advantage.

10 years on and the work of NFA successfully continues, with a strengthened focus on sustainability for the industry. Worth mentioning is The Danish Fashion Institute, a member of the NFA, who annually hosts Copenhagen Fashion Summit, the world’s leading business event on sustainability in fashion.

The Danish Fashion Institute is also one of the driving forces behind Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Copenhagen Fashion Week is the Nordic Region’s largest fashion event and a biannually meeting place for industry movers and shakers, with 1,100 exhibitors representing more than 2,500 international collections.

In addition to various events and runway shows around the city, Copenhagen Fashion Week includes four important trade shows. The fairs CIFF, CIFF KIDS, CIFF Raven and Revolver are together attracting press and buyers from worldwide.

CIFF KIDS – a children’s universe

The children’s universe during Copenhagen Fashion Week is CIFF KIDS. It’s the best place to discover new trends and fashion brands for little ones, many with a sustainable approach. The growing lifestyle & interior area is also a delight. This is where you can find beautiful children’s design with a focus on organic and eco friendly products. Think gorgeous Nordic design, high quality, multifunctional and timeless.

As part of being sustainable CIFF KIDS has announced a new collaboration. From this season the fair will partner with the charity Children’s Brain Cancer Foundation with different initiatives to raise money to support their important work.

CIFF KIDS and Copenhagen Fashion Week is leading the way for a stylish sustainable lifestyle.

I hope to see you at CIFF KIDS in a few weeks. And please join the Panel Discussion on the 1st of February! Find out more about CIFF KIDS at ciff.dk/ciff-kids-home.

Copenhagen is worth a visit in itself. Its historical harbour restaurants, amazing shopping and its selection of design venues and cultural events. I will be sharing my experience with you, here on the blog and on Instagram.
