The Nordic monochrome interior is inviting, stylish and comfortable. It’s also the perfect style choice for your little ones bedroom as it creates the perfect backdrop for both play, relax and sleep.
The colour scheme you choose for the bedroom must be a delicate balance between the invigorating and the relaxing. Adding one colour in addition to the black and white theme is a great way of changing the room after mood and personality.
In fact this is one of the benefits of having a backdrop in black and white; how easy it is to switch between accent colours. From hot pinks to bright greens and yellows…
Mix it up! Pair black-and-white cushions with different graphic patterns or quotes. Don’t mind if you choose to break it up with pastel – or even add a monochrome cushion with bright neon details!
Hand knitted cushions and throws as well as super soft natural animal skins are key elements in the Nordic interior style.
Graphic details, stars and stripes make the monochrome style more playful and fun.
The strict black and white theme is softened with elements of exposed natural wood, as seen here.
Monochrome doesn’t have to be all black and dark. You can equally go for a all white style, just using the black for small details, for a softer and more light style. Especially well suited for smaller spaces and tiny kids rooms.

I couldn’t agree more, Michelle. Less is more! 🙂 x
I really love these rooms! It is SO smart to do mostly monochrome. It makes it so easy to change their room to their personality over time. Thanks for sharing!
I love the way these rooms all feel very kid-friendly even though they are monochrome and aren’t overpowered with primary colours. The hint of yellow accents in the second picture is probably my favourite 🙂
