This post was prompted by an email I received this week. Jingle emailed me a few years back, as she was taking her then newborn on a winter holiday, and wondering how to keep her baby warm in freezing conditions. Then this week I received a new email from her:
Thank you for the advice you gave me 2 years ago.
This December, I will be taking my 2 kids to Finland and London for a holiday. Hence I will like to understand from you, between Superfit and Kamik, which will be a better pair for a holiday in Finland (helsinki and lapland).
My baby will be 10 months old then, is there a particular pair that you will recommend?
Thank you once again.
I’d say both Superfit and Kamik is excellent choices. Our first born had Kamik in the Norwegian nursery and it would withstand the elements, on wet and dreary days. The pair we had featured a removable inner lining, that we could take out and dry for the next days play in the snow. For superfit we had a pair for our youngest daughter, when she was about the same age as your baby. It was only used for one winter holiday to Trysil and I have only warm recommendations for the brand; they were flexible and lightweight and they kept her feet warm and dry. The also looked very stylish (her pair was in a bronze/gold style matched with app leather details).
But I asked the Scandinavian Dad for advice too, and he recommended trying Reima too. And I absolutely agree. Reima has what they call Reimatec, a special insulating and breathable membrane they use – and we have never experienced it fail! And the Reima Baby boots, almost like snow sock, are super cute too!
Fun in the snow – this is what Jingle and her family can expect from Winter Wonderland in Finland.
The reason for reposting the email from Jingle on the blog was that I was hoping you too perhaps would have any advice for her, if you perhaps have tried Superfit or Kamik for your child or if you have other recommendations to Jingle. – Please share by commenting below.
