Søndagstur in Norwegian, directly translated as Sunday Walk, is not only a tradition but a vital part of the Norwegian life. Every Sunday the family will go for a walk or a hike after breakfast. In wintertime there’s cross country skiing. Ideally you’ll bring a packed lunch and stay out all day. Filled with fresh air and tired after all the activity you’ll return just in time for the Sunday dinner.
It’s a lovely routine, which we quite enjoy in London too. Nordmarka, the surrounding forest area in Oslo has been replaced by the forest and wilderness of Hampstead Heath. But we do go out, as a family, walking and talking and enjoying our relaxed end of weekend.
How do you spend your Sundays?
