17.mai ‘Norway Day’ celebration in London is an open event, all welcome! Free entry and lots of fun to be had. An unique opportunity to see what Norway and Norwegian culture is all about, in Southwark Park London, 17th May between 10-4pm.
This is your opportunity to sample the authentic Norwegian cuisine, experience some of the most talented musicians and dancers from Norway -or just go bunad spotting! Buy your Norwegian flag on the day and blend in with the vikings!
The programme for the celebration:
Kl. 9.30 Opening of the celebration, Southwark Park (nearest tube Bermondsey, follow the stream of people in bunad and with Norwegian flags)
Kl. 9.30 Champagne breakfast from the Scandinavian Kitchen pop-up restaurant.
Kl. 10.00 Entertainment from the stage; Onkel Tuka, Mathea-Mari Glittenberg, Aasa, Bodø Paradekorps, Fikkan Skolekorps and Tinndølan. There’s a bouncy castle and a magician entertaining the youngest.
Kl. 11.00 Church Service in the nearby Norwegian Seaman’s Church.
Kl.13.00 Welcome speech and singing of the Norwegian National song ‘Ja vi elsker’
Kl. 13.15 The children’s parade to start from Bandstand
Kl. 14.15 Traditional children’s games hosted by The Norwegian School.
There will be two pop-up restaurants in addition to various of food stalls selling open sandwiches, cured meat, ‘pølse i bred’, Solo and ice cream.
