Hay House – Danish Design Store in Copenhagen

HAY HOUSE 03
Hay House, located on the popular shopping street ‘Strøget’ on the 2nd and 3rd floor of a apartment building in the heart of Copenhagen, is a must visit when visiting the Danish capital. We think this store is the ultimate design experience – so please join our little tour and enjoy sneak peek here, on Little Scandinavian!

Why you need to visit HAY House
Look & Feel – The showroom stocks some of the most popular designs, allowing you to enjoy it first hand rather than seeing it online or in a catalogue.
Inspiration – The showroom is laid out as an apartment, with lots of great ideas for your home and workspace.
One off – Experience the epitome of ‘Danish Cool’, contemporary yet so delightfully chilled. No pretentiousness here. Only a unique retail experience.
Art – Beautiful and unique pieces, from ceramics to paintings.
Gifts – Excellent for buying presents, with lots of gift items.

So, let’s start our tour; We walk from Kongens Nytorv, up Østergade. When you have Illum to your right, look left. Hardly noticeable, there’s a small black sign saying ‘HAY House’.

But when first having discovered the entrance – it’s beautiful, with blue doors and decorative wall paintings.

It’s a cool atmosphere in the Hay store; a cross between an art gallery, a store and a being in someones home.

We were introduced to HAY in 2007, by our friends at Moleta Munro. We immediately fell in love with the clean and minimalist design and two beautiful off white HAY leather chairs have been accompanying us ever since.

But the brand was founded five years earlier, in 2002, creating durable quality furniture at affordable prices to allow as many people as possible to enjoy excellent design. Then a interior accessory line was added in 2005.

In 2013, HAY founded Wrong For HAY in collaboration with the London based designer Sebastian Wrong, who in addition to his own designs also spots new talents to include in the HAY family.

Today, HAY is a global company that employs hundreds of people in countries around the world, with retailers in most countries as well as flagship stores in Europe and Asia. And HAY stays true to its original idea; creating durable quality furniture at affordable prices to allow as many people as possible to enjoy excellent design.

So in short; when in Copenhagen… hay.dk
